The answer: it depends (at least somewhat) on what they study.

Last year a company called Universum surveyed 56,900 college students and produced a ranking list of the “ideal” employers for students in five different fields: business, engineering, IT, natural sciences, and humanities/liberal arts.

The number one companies by field are:

Business: Google
Engineering: NASA
IT: Google
Natural Sciences: National Institutes of Health
Humanities/Liberal Arts: Teach for America
