Instead of simply offering the courses their professors want to teach, colleges are increasingly offering courses to match employers’ needs.
The New York Times reports that continuing education programs have been particularly aggressive in this area. New offerings in continuing ed programs tackle growing fields such as renewable energy, global customs, and digital marketing. All are designed to boost students’ odds of landing one of the 3.4 million unfilled jobs in the U.S.
