I think it is great that colleges want to provide more services and scholarships to LGBT students, and I respect the faculty that advocates this. However I disagree with the method to extract that information. I do not agree with asking a student on a college application because it should not take into account admission to a school or even a job. LGBT people are not an ethnicity or different race, therefore I dont see a need to report that on an application. It is a sexual preference is all. If they want to provide more services and or scholarahips, there needs to be a seperate aapplication or Survey so that they can pull info from the LGBT community on campus without tieing sexual orientation into applications for.education or employment.
