As I’ve mentioned before, selective colleges need good students more than good students need them.
What exactly does this mean? Good students—those who earn solid grades, get involved, and make connections—will be just fine no matter where they go to college. (There’s research to back this up.) However, selective colleges would be ordinary places without good students.
So, you should try to relax this application season: the stakes aren’t as high as they might seem. Even if you don't get into your dream school, chances are things will work out.
