If you’re applying to highly selective colleges, you might be wondering whether you should include a leadership position among your activities.
My advice on this topic is the same as it is for community service: you don’t need any one activity to gain admission to selective colleges. Successful applicants to such schools have very different extracurricular profiles.
That being said, colleges love to see extended commitment to a particular activity, and a leadership position is a great way to demonstrate commitment. If one of your favorite activities offers such a position, pursuing this position can only boost your odds of admission.
